About Sommaiy

My name is Sommaiy. I was born in Laos and spent over 20 years as a monk, living in forest monasteries, meditating daily, and studying Buddhist philosophy.

My journey has shaped me deeply – through silence, discipline, and devotion. Even though I no longer wear the robe, the monk’s path lives on in my heart.

I live simply and continue to meditate every day. I welcome others into my space to share moments of stillness, truth, and connection – not as a teacher above, but as a fellow traveler on the path.

Life has taught me that peace is not found in the outside world, but within.

— Sommaiy

Meditation

Come home to yourself.

In my meditation sessions, I invite you to reconnect with the silence within. Through my grounded presence and intuitive guidance, I hold space for you – so that deep stillness can unfold naturally. Whether we sit together in a group or one-on-one, I share techniques that support your emotional release, mental clarity, and inner peace.

My approach is rooted in the Theravāda Buddhist tradition, combined with the intuitive wisdom that arises in stillness. I also share practical knowledge and insights that help you understand your own process more deeply – not just feel it, but truly integrate it.

I offer meditation sessions both in person and online. However, it’s important for me to first meet you face to face – if possible. Feeling your energy in person helps me understand how to truly connect with you and support you in the best possible way. Once that connection is built, we can continue online.

Sessions

Come as you are – in presence or from afar.

You are welcome to visit me at my home, where I offer a quiet, dedicated space for meditation and reflection. The atmosphere is simple and peaceful – a place to slow down, breathe, and reconnect.

Sometimes I also guide meditations in local temples, where the silence holds centuries of devotion and presence. If you feel called, we can go there together.

After we’ve met in person, I’m happy to continue supporting you through online sessions as well.

Online sessions without a prior personal meeting are only available for open conversations about Buddhism – not for guided meditation.

Vision

Creating a space for stillness

One of my deepest wishes has already come true – I have found and bought a piece of land only 20 minutes from Luang Prabang to build a meditation center. This place will be a sanctuary where people from all walks of life can come to reconnect with themselves, with nature, and with silence.

Rooted in the Theravāda Buddhist tradition, the center will be simple and open. Surrounded by trees and natural sounds, it will offer a quiet refuge for those seeking peace, clarity, and inner strength. A place to meditate, to learn, to let go.

It is not a place of luxury, but of presence.

This vision has taken root – like a seed that has touched the soil and begun to grow. If you feel called to be part of this journey – through energy, ideas, or financial support – I warmly welcome your presence.

Sommaiy is a very good, friendly, experienced, sweet, humorous, intelligent and beautiful meditation coach. We talked one morning about Buddhism, meditation, politics, Laos, world problems and especially about life. I immediately felt at ease and familiar. We shared each other's experiences in life. Sommaiy can explain well with a lot of imagery and humor. And of course we sat quietly together for a while. Time flew by. Sommaiy is already a reason to come back to Laos. Thank you for the wise lessons and beautiful moments. I have been completely touched in my deepest.

This is a once in a lifetime experience, being in the presence of a gentle and intelligent monk who is willing to explain and guide us through the practice of meditation. The temple and prayers were enlightening. We were able to ask questions and get full answers that we understood. It made meditation real for us. Thank you, we look forward to opening this aspect of our lives up.

Expectations: We wanted to learn about Buddhism up close and personal. We had a lot of questions and also wanted to learn about meditation techniques. Sommaiy met and exceeded our expectations because after making us feel at home, talking about all the topics without taboo, with his smile and all his energy to help us learn to meditate, he made us a fresh and homemade delicious meal. It is a personal session, he dedicates the time you need and really transmits passion and the desire to continue with meditation. His stories are amazing!
